Service Projects
And they'll know we are Christians by our love!

Students at ASA-ELCS take pride in serving others in our community, throughout our nation, and abroad.
Each year students provide monetary and physical gifts to help others, as well as spending time in service at local organizations and on mission trips.
Here are just some of the ways we serve each year:

  • Collecting canned/boxed goods for local families at Thanksgiving and Christmas

  • Packing and distributing these gifts in conjunction with the local Salvation Army and the Way Station

  • Clean-up efforts at local parks, Christian campgrounds and other service organizations

  • Collecting and sending "shoe box" gifts to children overseas at Christmas time

  • High School Mission trips to New Jersey & Columbus outreach ministries

  • Spring flower distribution through the Salvation Army

  • Collecting items/money for disaster victims

What Is Living Above The Line?

You may have heard your children or their teachers talking about "Living Above the Line".  This is the theme that our school adopted during the 2009-2010 school year and continues to be our theme for the new school year.  It is the basis for encouraging our students to be the best that they can be for Christ.  It also dictates how we address our discipline when needed.

Just like the phrase WWJD (What Would Jesus Do), students are encouraged to keep all their actions positive - ABOVE THE LINE - whether in their school work, their communications with their peers and teachers, on the athletic fields and when interacting in the community.

Each class helps to determine their own Above the Lines standards.  These standards may include such statements as: "treat each other with respect," "talk with kindness," "show others unconditional love," and much more.   (All based on Biblical principles.)

The sixth chapter of Galatians exhorts us: "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (verse 9).  We are to  "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" (verse 2), and "each one should test his own actions" (verse 4).  Students are held accountable for choosing right over wrong.  In a fallen world, following God's word in this way, we are encouraging our students to LIVE ABOVE THE LINE.

If you see any of our students (or teachers) LIVING ABOVE THE LINE, please let Mrs. Ullom know via email at support@elchristian.org.  We will be adding a "KUDOS for Living Above the Line" section to our student highlights link soon!

American Spirit Academy expects students to excel academically and to give back to the community through service.  Additionally, students have many events designed to strengthen their friendships.  This page is dedicated to the accomplishments and opportunities of our students both in and out of the classroom.
Many of these events are highlighted on our picture pages as well.
